Local Grief Support
GENERAL GRIEF SUPPORT
Bereavement counseling services for both adults and children including individual and family grief counseling and a variety of support group options. Services are available in Lake, Orange, and Osceola counties. A 13 week support group open to anyone grieving the death of a family member or friend. These groups can be joined at any time, and at your own pace as you are not required to attend all 13 sessions, or follow the sessions in sequence. Groups meet online and in person, and locations can be found by clicking the GriefShare title above and searching by zip code. There is typically a fee for the cost of the workbook, though some locations do have scholarships available.
A four week, fee-based, closed grief support group led by Dr. Andrea Dyben, LMHC, of Phenix Counseling. The purpose of this group is to help participants learn what a healthy grief process looks like, to face the layers of loss and work through the pain, to adjust to a new “normal”, and to move into the life they are meant to live. REMOTE & VIRTUAL GROUPS ONLY. VITAS offers a variety of general and specific bereavement support groups continuously throughout the year including spousal and parental loss, LGBTQ+ and grief, and COVID loss. These groups are free of charge, and are offered as phone-in support groups, or Zoom video support groups.
A young adult grief support group that provides an atmosphere of compassion and confidentiality which allows young adults ages 19-25 to become empowered and equipped with tools that will help them journey through the grief process. Sponsored by Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies’, this group gives members the opportunity to connect and share, healing together through these experiences. This support group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm. Meetings are held at Arnold Palmer Hospital. Free parking is available in the Patient and Visitor Parking Garage located next to the hospital’s main entrance on Miller Street. Valet parking is also available for $5. CANCER SUPPORT
‘The Pink Ribbon Ladies’ meet the second Thursday of every month at the New Life Center (formerly the National Training Center) located at 1953 Don Wickham Drive, Clermont, Florida 34711. This group provides area women the opportunity to support one another and discuss treatments, coping and physical issues in a private environment. ‘Coping with Cancer Group’ encourages and equips individuals with hope and support in their battle with Cancer. This group meets on the second Monday of each month from 6:30-8:00pm in the Multi Purpose Room of Building C at the Clermont campus.
SPECIALIZED SUPPORT GROUPS
