Bill left a legacy for his family, friends, colleagues, and clients. Throughout Bill's life, he mirrored generosity, care, and concern for his family, especially his precious grandsons. He was the great celebrator during fun times and his infectious laugh was a gift. During difficult times, he was there to provide support and protection when his family needed him most. Bill modeled his spirituality through his active involvement in church by attending Bible studies, serving as an usher and participating in men's groups.

Friends were important to Bill. He treated them with love and respect. His sense of humor was always present and a vehicle for demonstrating his care and concern. His generous spirit enhanced his relationships with others. He treasured moments spent with them.

Bill's beliefs were visible in his professional life. As an attorney and the Chief Assistant Public Defender for Lake County, his honesty, courage, and integrity upheld the rights of many individuals to fair representation under the law. His assistance and encouragement to his co-workers and clients were positive attributes that contributed to his successful working relationships.

After retirement, Bill capitalized upon his love of learning and gardening by becoming a Master Gardener. He devoted leadership, time, and energy to Lake County's Discovery Gardens at the Extension Center in Tavares as a result of his passion.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sally; son, Andy (Michele) Gainesville, FL; two grandchildren, Andrew and Sam; sister, Dorothy Marie Stone. Son, Christopher, and parents, William A. and Marie Stone, preceded him in death.
