William Carmon Johnson, 92, Clermont, passed away January 8, 2012 at the Mike Conley Hospice House. He was born December 2, 1919 in Sumner County, TN son of James Author Johnson and Nola Bowling Johnson. He was a US Army veteran having served in WWII and was a retired Operating Engineer. A local resident since 1954 from Akin, SC, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Clermont and former Deacon and Sunday School Superintendant. He was preceded in death by his wife Etta Elizabeth Jernigan Johnson in 1995 and by siblings Robert, J.D., and Dean Johnson.
Surviving are his daughters Kathleen Etta McIntosh and husband David of Memphis, TN; Billie J. Sloan and husband Jimmy and Sara Alice Johnson all of Clermont; grandchildren, Shannon and Scott Sloan and Carmen Moler; 5 great grandchildren and sister Myrtle B. Smith, Franklin, KY.
The funeral service for Mr. Johnson will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the Becker Chapel. Reverend Michael Sloan, Oasis World Outreach Church, Zephyrhills, FL will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
