IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Mac
Griffin
December 4, 1948 – September 11, 2020
William "Mac" Griffin
December 4, 1948 – September 11, 2020
Our beloved Mac was born in Bainbridge, GA. He grew up in the Winter Haven area and in Newton, GA. He had cerebral palsy since he was a small child and was cared for by his loving mother, Maxie Griffin. His brother Rex came into his life when he was two years old and then got his little sister, Shirley, when he was ten years old. From the time Rex began to venture out to be with his friends, he would take his big brother, Mac, with him wherever he went. Rex was killed by a drunk driver when he was 18, so Mac lost his "partner in crime". He was always a wonderful brother to Shirley, and she was devoted to him until his dying day. A little over 16 years ago, Shirley brought her Mom and Mac down to Florida as her Mom could no longer care for him like she always had. He has been at Ruleme Center Nursing Home since that time and has roamed the halls and been their "good will ambassador" for those 16 plus years. He has had so many amazing CNA's who have cared for him and they have been like his family. He spent his whole life loving and praising the Lord. He has always been such a Godly man and it was apparent to all who met him, even in his last days when he could not communicate at all. Many of those who cared for him in the Hospice House said they could sense the goodness in him, and they knew he had such a big heart. Your family will love and miss you forever, Mac, but we are so blessed to have the best Guardian Angel in heaven looking down and taking care of us. We will see you again one day!
Mac was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Maxie Griffin, and he is the son of Eddie Griffin, Bainbridge, GA. His beloved sister is Shirley Griffin [Sherie Sayre] of Groveland, FL. Mac is the beloved uncle to Stacey Sayre Johnston [Brett Johnston] of Groveland, FL, and Jennifer Sayre Hough [Dennis Hough] of Clermont, FL. Mac had 3 great nephews who loved him; Tyler Johnston of Knoxville, TN; Connor Johnston of Tallahassee, FL; and Austin Edmundson of Groveland, FL. He had 3 half-sisters; Kathy Vickers of Anchorage, AK; Sheila Floyd of Bainbridge, GA; and Angie Day of Dothan, AL.
