IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Edward
Jones
June 13, 1942 – February 27, 2025
William E. Jones, child of God, was called to heavenly rest on February 27, 2025. Bill grew up in Orlando where he met his wife of 64 years, Priscilla. Their journey together led them to New Mexico and Iowa, where Bill earned a fellowship and his Ph.D. in Physics in 1970 from Iowa State. He worked in the glass industry in Tennessee and Indiana before finding a second career he loved, as a professor at Panhandle State University in Oklahoma and The University of Montevallo in Alabama. Bill and Priscilla moved back to Florida in 2018 and greatly enjoyed being with their three sons (Daniel, Jim, and David) and their families including grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill was an avid fisherman from a youth to old age, and that passion is reflected on down to even his great grandchildren. He was also a builder; he loved working on guitars, model airplanes, and motorcycles. He was active in and dedicated to his and Priscilla's churches, particularly in Montevallo AL, and most recently, Edge Methodist in Groveland FL. He had many good friends there who look forward to seeing him again. A funeral service will be held at Edge United Methodist Church in Groveland at 1pm on Monday March 17.
