Willard Dale Thacker, 90, of Leesburg, FL passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Willard was born in Elkins, WV to Troy Blaine and Bertha Thacker. Willard was a WWII veteran of the 8th Army Air Corps and served as a Navigator on a B-17 Bomber in the European theater. After his service, Willard graduated summa cum laude from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. He was the first Chief Pharmacist of the WVU Hospital In-Patient Pharmacy upon its opening and continued to work there until his retirement in 1982. Willard and his beloved wife Frances relocated to Florida where they shared many wonderful years with their daughters and grandchildren. Willard was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Frances Elizabeth Berry Thacker. Willard is survived by his daughters Mary Ellen Tucker and husband David of Clermont, FL, Rebecca Thacker of Athens, OH, Nancy Thacker of Fruitland Park, FL, and Sarah Thacker and husband Larry Mason of Orlando, FL. In addition, he is survived by three grandchildren Leigh Ann Tucker of Clermont, FL, Matt Hawkins of Sanford, FL, and Dominic Hawkins of Leesburg, FL as well as 4 great grandchildren. The Thacker family also wishes to recognize the love and support of his care giver, Ms. Sandrea Weaver.
