Willard Douglas (Doug) Kennedy passed away December 15, 2023, with family by his side.  He was born March 5, 1934, in Tifton, Georgia.  Parents Joseph and Bernice Hood Kennedy predeceased him as did brother Travis.  He leaves his wife of 65 years, Alice, and son Cecil.

His younger years were spent in Ocklawaha, Florida, starting school in Lake Weir.  The family then moved to Winter Garden where he lived until after graduating from Lakeview High School in 1952.  Army draft in 1957 steered him to training in refrigeration.  Upon return home he worked in appliance repair, air conditioning and finally master electrician.  He started working in Clermont for his brother - then later started his own business until time of retirement.

In 1958 he married Alice Dees and in 1960 moved to Minneola where son Cecil was born.

In retirement, he enjoyed visiting with cousins in Georgia and Alabama and remained in close friendship with the many family contacts.

As they approached the 75 year mark LHS classmates decided to have an "everyone's 75th birthday party" - going to Dillard, Georgia for a few days.  It was such fun meeting and reminiscing that it became an annual trip for not only his class but others joining in.  The porches at the Dillard House were a great place to gather and visit.  Friendships strengthen, friendships renewed - lots of gatherings and pot-luck meals followed.
