Obituary

On December 24, 2020 Wanda Humphrey went home to be with her Lord.  Wanda Humphrey was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was born in Hamilton, OH on December 5, 1956.  In Columbus, OH she met the love of her life, Christopher Humphrey, in high school.  He proposed on October 10, 1975 and they were married on April 30, 1976.  Throughout her life she lived in Ohio, Florida, and South Carolina, ending in Mount Dora, FL, taking many career paths along the way.  Her favorite was as an elementary school teacher at Tabernacle Christian School.

Throughout her life her greatest passions were being a dedicated Christian as well as a devoted mother, grandmother and wife.  She made a huge impact on everyone she met and will always be remembered for her strength and compassion.  She was a spiritual leader to many young Christians, not only in how she lived but also in the counsel she gave.  She would pride herself in being a wonderful homemaker and doing whatever it took to take care of her "boys."  Her marriage of 44 years was an inspiration to many, including her sons, on how a blessed union can work.

While suffering from a hard life of illness and disease, her faith was never shaken.  She knew where she would go and that God would always provide.  Today we celebrate her joining her heavenly Father on the Eve of his birth here on earth.

She is survived by her husband, Christopher Humphrey; son Jonathan Humphrey, wife Nicole Humphrey, and her granddaughter Charlotte "Charlie" Humphrey; and son Nicholas Humphrey and wife Amanda Humphrey.  She is also survived by 2 brothers and 3 sisters; Charles "Rusty" Nash, Oakley "Butch" Hatten III, Betty McComas, Rebecca "Becky" Hutchinson, and Shelby Cochran.  She was also blessed with 10 nieces and 3 nephews; Amber, Cami, Samantha, Joanne, Brenda, Cathy, Natasha, Cheyanne, Emily, Sara, Oakley IV, Robbie, and Tommy; along with many great nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by parents Oakley Hatten Jr, Alice "Cathy" Hatten and Geneva Troiano; and nephew Frankie Wilson.

She will be loved and missed but her faith in God means we will see her again in Heaven.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to the Faith Mission Program at Open Door Baptist Church of Clermont, FL.  You can make specific instructions at checkout with "For the missionary group memory of Wanda Humphrey."
