IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter Philip
Gamb
August 12, 1939 – September 17, 2022
Walter Philip Gamb, 83 of Clermont, Florida passed away on Saturday September 17, 2022. Walter was born August 12,1939 in Bronx, New York, son of Herman and Katherine Gamb. Walter and his loving wife of 60 years were former residents of Monroe, New York. Both resided together in Florida for the past 30 years.
Walter is survived by his spouse Angela, three children, nine grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his brother, Joseph Gamb of Florida and sister, Carol Dean of Washington and pre-deceased by his brother, Stanley Gamb.
At the time of his death, Walter was being honored for his past military service with a prayer and a salute. During that very moment, he took his last breath on earth surrounded by his family as he departed for heaven.
Walter and Angela Gamb were married in 1962 and had three children together: Christopher, Nicholas, and Suzanne. He served in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves. Later, he became a member of the New York City Police Department from the mid 1960's to the mid 1980's while stationed in the Bronx 41 and 52 precincts.
Walter faithfully served as a Deacon and long time member of Redeeming Love Christian Center in Nanuet, New York. He was known for his faith and integrity which he shared with all he knew. Where ever he was, he always filled the room with his strong presence and personality. He passes on quite a legacy to all his friends and family. He took great pleasure in spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren. Right down to his last days, he always wanted to know how everyone was.
Whether you called him Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Chief, or Wally, he will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life for Walter will take place at a later date.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to National Veterans Foundation in Walter's honor.
