Obituary
Walter Filip, 86, of Hampstead, NH and Clermont, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1st. He was the devoted husband of Janet (Moore) Filip of 50 years and proud father of their three children; Christy, Matt and Jake.
Wally was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Gage Park High School, South Chicago, IL in 1948. After serving overseas in the Marine Corps., he attended and graduated from Bradley University, Peoria, IL in 1957. His entire career was spent employed with Western Electric in Chicago, IL and Lucent Technologies in Massachusetts.
Over the years, Wally would commonly be found fixing up the house, building a project in his woodworking shop, attending or watching a ballgame or sporting event, working out or simply being with his family. After his retirement in 1990, he and Janet split their time between NH and FL. He enjoyed golfing, being active at the gym and spending time with friends. Wally's life was full of adventures and stories. He enjoyed sharing them with old and new friends; which he would find everywhere he went.
In addition to his wife, Janet; he is survived by his three children; Christy (Filip) Nunes and her husband Stephen of Framingham, MA, Matt and his wife Elizabeth of Mount Laurel, NJ and Jake of Chester, NH. He was proud of each of his six grandchildren: Katie, Nico, David, Jonathan, Luke and Margaret. He is also survived by his brother, Fred Filip of Peoria, IL.
Visiting hours will be held at Becker Funeral Home, Clermont, FL from 10:00-11:00am on Tuesday, February 7th, 2017 followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Clermont, FL at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 7th, 2017.
