Virgen Alvarado Pablos, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away on April 12, 2024 after a courageous battle with Lewy body dementia. She was a shining example of love, generosity, and selflessness.

Born in Puerto Rico on January 11, 1943, Virgen moved with her parents and siblings to New York City, where she lived in the Bronx for many years before settling in Florida. She married Paul Pablos on November 23, 1963. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, lasting nearly 61 years until her passing.

Virgen was a devoted mother who raised her children with unwavering love and care. Despite her health challenges, she always put her family first.

Known for her boundless generosity, she selflessly gave to those in need, never hesitating to share her last dollar or her last piece of bread. Her commitment to helping others went beyond her family, as she annually collected and doubled donations for the poor in honor of Saint Lazarus, supporting CARE Foundation's fight against poverty for many years.

Virgen touched many lives. Her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren, whom she loved deeply.

She is survived by her husband, Paul; her three children, Richard, Jennifer, and Deslin; her 11 grandchildren: Kaylin, Amber, Jason, Britney, Emily, Sarah, Brandon, Charles Alexander, Brianna, Brooklin, and Charlotte; her great-grandson, Isaiah; her 10 siblings, and her many nieces and nephews.

While we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate Virgen's life and the love, kindness, and compassion she brought to the world. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 5pm until 8pm at Becker Funeral Home and Thursday from 10 am until 11am.  Interment will follow on Thursday, April 18, 2024, 1:30pm at Florida National Cemetery.

Mi hermana ante mi mirada.

En honor a mi hermana Virgen Pablos:

Me dirijo a todo nuestra familia y amistades que compartimos con nuestra hermana fenecida Virgen. Es con profundo dolor y a la vez regocijo que expreso estas palabras, sobre su vida y convivencia con todos nosotros.

Virgen, hija mayor del matrimonio de Paula y Virgilio, nuestros progenitores, siempre fue una persona vivaracha, alegre, llena de amor y bondad hacia su prójimo; procurando siempre hacer el bien, tratando de mitigar el dolor y sufrimiento ajeno, no compartía las injusticias. Su carácter, fuerte, pero sincero y afable.

Siempre estuve apegada a ella, como también lo estoy con mis demás hermanos, pero en este momento reconozco las características sobresalientes de ella. Una mujer bella en su físico y en su alma. Ella miraba a su semejante por igual, no le importaba su raza, color de piel, si eran afortunados o menos afortunados, para ella todos éramos iguales, familiares o no.

Amaba y defendía a su familia como una guerrera. Buena esposa, buena madre, buena hermana, y muy buena hija. Semejante a la descripción de mujer virtuosa de proverbios 31 (Biblia).

Era amante de la risa y siempre tenía palabras de aliento. Muy franca en sus palabras.

Formó una familia con su compañero de viaje por los años juntos, con sus hijos Richie, Jennifer, y Deslin, que deben estar muy orgullosos de sus padres.

Recibía a toda la familia y personas particulares en el seno de su hogar. Ella era apegada a su familia y lo fue hasta el fin de sus días sobre la tierra.

Debemos celebrar su vida y vivencias. Para mí está de viaje y algún día tengo esa certeza nos volveremos a reencontrar. Siempre vivirá en mi corazón. Ella estará durmiendo hasta que nuestro Señor Jesucristo la despierte y nunca morirá. Cristo es la resurrección y la vida. El que cree en Él, aunque esté muerto, vivirá (Juan 11:25).

Virgen era sensible a la voz de Dios y compartía sus inquietudes espirituales conmigo. Su calidad de ser humano era excelente.

A todos ustedes, les digo, nuestra Virgen Pablos vive y celebramos su vida. Lloramos su ausencia física, pero procuramos tener ese reencuentro posteriormente.
