Hutcheson, Victor "Vic", age 71 of Clermont, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by family and
friends on
Monday, September 12, 2016 due to complications from Alzheimer's. Vic was born on
August 18, 1945 in Chattanooga, TN. He and his wife Phyllis lived and worked in Birmingham, AL,
where
Vic retired from Raytheon after a thirty year engineering career. He was Vice President of Operations
when he retired in 1998. After Vic retired, he and Phyllis moved to Clermont, Florida. Vic was a lifelong
Alabama fan – Roll Tide! He loved his red Corvette and most of all he loved his wife Phyllis. They were
inseparable. Vic and Phyllis gave freely of their time and talents to the Clermont community and were
members of the First United Methodist Church of Clermont, where they headed the missions team for
several years. Their greatest gift to the community was the Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation, which
they started in 2004. Thanks to their tireless devotion to the cancer patients of the greater Clermont
area, we have a 100% volunteer organization who has helped hundreds of cancer patients deal with
the
financial and emotional impacts of cancer.
Vic is survived by his wife Phyllis, his brother‐in‐law Al
Tidwell, and six siblings.
A celebration of Vic's life will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at
2:00PM at the
First United Methodist Church of Clermont, followed by a gathering for family and friends
at the Summit Greens Clubhouse. Instead of flowers, Phyllis requests that all donations
go to the
Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation, PO Box 443, Minneola, FL 34755, www.gccf.us.
Vic was truly a
southern gentleman and he will be greatly missed by all.
