Victor J. Colon

August 15, 1930-February 9, 2023

1SG Victor Colon (US Army, Retired), 92, passed away on February 9, 2023. Victor was born in Villalba, Puerto Rico. Dedicated his life to the Army, where he spent 22 years followed by a career as a JROTC Instructor. Victor received many commendations during his service as a Korean and Vietnam Combat 1SG, inclusive of the Congressional Medal of Honor as a Borinqueneer.

Victor was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Mary Colon, his daughter Edna Colon Rosado and grandson, Alec Colon. He is survived by his children Victor (Lucy) Colon, Vicky (Felipe) Ramos, Michael (Celi) Colon. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Kevin, Adelin, Christina,V.J., Phillip, Jacqueline, Isabel and Analise and great grandchildren Kris, Kassandra, Kaitlyn, Nathan and Madeleine and his dear brother, Rafael (Yvette) Colon and sister Marta Colon, and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Victor leaves a legacy of proud military service, and the great memory of a fierce defender of those he loved.

A viewing will be held at Becker Funeral home on Wednesday February 15, 2023 at 9am with a Mass to follow at 11am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Florida National Cemetery on Thursday February 16, 2023 at 10am.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials in Victor's name to a Veterans' Outreach program of your choice.
