Vera Marie Leipold died peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 15, 2011. She was born April 28, 1921 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Anthony and Clara (Schuhmacher) VanderHeyden. She was a graduate of Mishawaka High School and married Albert Liepold, her husband of 70 years, on May 25, 1921 in Mishawaka, Indiana. They lived in South Bend/Mishawaka, Indiana, area until their move to Clermont, Florida in 2004. Vera was employed at the Ball Band Plant (Uniroyal) in Mishawaka and retired as a school crossing guard with the South Bend Police Department. She is survived by her husband Albert of Tavares, Florida; a son Donald (Carol) Liepold, Dayton, Ohio; two daughters Patricia (James) Golomb, Clermont, Florida and Christine (Russ) Inglish, San Clemente, California. She is also survived by her sister Catherine (Lawrence) Healy of Sebring, Florida; 6 grandchildren & one great-granddaughter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont. Funeral arrangements are being made by Becker Family Funeral Home, Clermont, FL. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in Vera's name be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, Floirda 32778 or to the church at the above address.
