Vada Anne Marks, 85, of Groveland, Florida, passed away on March 3, 2021.  She was born on December 23, 1935 to Orville and Esther Catherine Sorflaten, in Frederick, Maryland.  She was the second of five sisters.   After graduating from Centreville High School in 1953, Vada went on to graduate from Towson State University ('57) and the University of Southern California ('69) earning a bachelor's degree in education and two master's degrees, one in math and one in science.  After many years teaching, she then earned her Registered Nursing degree from Broward College ('82).

Vada was the wife of the late Walter M. Marks for 37 years prior to his passing in 1995.    She was a proud military wife and a loving mother.  She worked as a teacher for many years before beginning a second career as a registered nurse.  She enjoyed travelling the world, playing piano, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents Orville and Esther, and her sisters Esther Lee and Judith; Vada is survived by her sisters, Joan Sorflaten of Centreville, Maryland and Donna Lou Ward of Olean, New York; her three children, (son) Cary Marks and his wife Joyce; (daughter) Cathy Cannon and her husband Dale; (son) Craig Marks; her grandchildren, Dustin, Ryan, Kerrilynn, Devin, Rylee; her great grandchildren, Caden and Cameron; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Services were held March 6, 2021 at the Tuscanooga Baptist Church in Groveland, Florida and officiated by Pastor Mike Franklin.  Burial will be at Palms Memorial Park in Sarasota, Florida, alongside her husband.
