Turner Sheppard McLaurin, 94, died January 5, 2012 at the Clermont Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Fort Worth, TX on October 2, 1917. After graduating from Mississippi College he moved to Washington D.C. where he was employed by the government until he retired in 1973. Retired ho moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Ocean Pines where he lived for many years. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Berlin enjoying teaching Sunday School and playing the organ. He and his wife moved to Florida in 1999 enjoying the spring training ball games, the weather, their church and touring until all 50 states had been visited.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Whitman Farlow McLaurin, his brother De McLaurin, his sister Joyce Gubbins, daughter Laura Guajardo, daughter Marianne Finnigan, son Hugh McLaurin along with 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of his life will be held at the Burbage Funeral Home, Berlin, Maryland. His interment will be held the following day at the Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the building fund at Shep's church in Clermont, FL: 1st Baptist Church, 5th and Montrose, Clermont, FL 34711. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 21, 2012 at his church in Florida.
