Tony William

October 2, 1947 – February 27, 2024
Tony William Honey was born on October 2, 1947 in Clermont, Florida to Homer "Shorty" and Lena Simmons Honey. Tony grew up in Clermont, Florida and graduated from Clermont High School in 1965 where he played football and tested his sweet momma's patience getting into numerous shenanigans with his best friends William "Bill" McGuire and Harold "Hal" Turville and sometimes dragging his baby brother, Randy Honey, along.
He was honored to be a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving as a jet engine mechanic and received a Bachelor in Business Administration from Arkansas State University.
Tony had two sons Randy N. Honey and Jeffery L Honey, with his first wife Neala Hoch. When he married his second wife and soul mate, Norma Williams, in April 1984 he added a spunky daughter, Rana Boykin, to his family. He was most proud of his legacy as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he was always up for a day of life lessons spun into fun by "pops", "gramps" or "ggpa".
Tony loved hosting picnics and gatherings for friends and family, coaching junior girls' softball and attending football games to cheer on his beloved University of Florida Gators. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, canoeing and kayaking. He was always up for a weekend of family fun scalloping in Crystal River with Bill and his family or canoeing Central Florida with Hal and his family. He also enjoying setting off for long sojourn of hiking/rafting/camping in the mountains of Montana with his dear friend Fred Rhode.
Tony started his career in the banking industry in Central Florida. He ultimately found his calling on the sales team for Modern Welding Company in Orlando, Florida where his charismatic personality and humble attitude endeared him to those he worked with. He rose through the ranks at Modern and moved to Augusta, GA where he managed one their plants before concluding his 35-year career with Modern Welding as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at their headquarters in Owensboro, KY.
After his retirement he and Norma returned to Clermont, Florida to be amongst family and friends. In his final years he was an Alzheimer's and Lewy Body Dementia warrior and his wife Norma was his constant companion.
He was preceded in death by his father Homer "Shorty" Honey, mother Lena Honey, brother Randy Honey and brother from another mother Bill McGuire.
