Thomas D. Pleis, Sr., 76, Orlando, passed away May 19, 2011 at Metro West Nursing & Rehab. He was born January 4, 1935 in Hamburg, PA son of Robert Pleis & Elsie Nye Pleis. A central Florida resident since 1957 from Hamburg, he was former owner of Winter Park Diner, manager of Gary's Duck Inn in Orlando & Anderson's Restaurant in Winter Park and was associated with Howard Johnson's. Preceding him in death were his son Thomas D. Pleis, Jr. on October 18, 2010; grandson Christopher Gellispie and sister Gladys Pacifico. Surviving are his daughters Kathy Smith & husband Mike of Clermont & Debbie Stewart & husband Jack of Kingman, AZ; grandchildren Wayne & Jason Smith & Thomas D. Pleis, III & Cara Pleis; great-grandchildren Alicia, Wyatt & Asa Gellispie & former wife June A. Pleis, Lockhart, FL.
