Thomas Earl Harris, 86, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away Monday, May 12, 2025. Tom joined the Air Force at 17 and, after successfully attending Officer candidate training school, proudly served his country as an Electronic Warfare Officer and traveled around the world with the 82nd and 343rd reconnaissance squadrons of the 55th Wing. As a member SAC, he served on a B-47 bomber and received the Distinguished Flying Cross on May 14, 1970. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work at the NASA national test site in Bay St Louis, Mississippi. He did realize his lifelong dream of obtaining a college degree in 1993. He graduated from the University of Maryland Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Nuclear Engineering while working at Houston Light and Power. He then became a consultant in the nuclear power industry until his final retirement.
Family always came first, and he is survived by his wife, Betty Harris of Spring Hill Florida, his son Kenneth Harris and daughter Wendy Clements both of Clermont Florida and granddaughter Jade Dowling of Kansas City, KS.
Funeral Services with Military Honors, will be held Friday May 23rd, 2025, 1pm, at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Becker Funeral Home from 10:45am until 11:45am before the service.
