Mrs. Thedis Simmons of Ferndale, Florida passed away Sunday June 30, 2013. She was 76. Thedis was born July 28, 1936 in Gresston Georgia to Lewis and Pearl Simmons. She married Randel Simmons on April 28, 1956 in Kingston Georgia. Thedis and Randel raised their two children Ricky and Tammy in Ferndale where they were members of the Ferndale Baptist Church. Thedis retired from Dac Vision of Minneola FL. Previous employment included Jim Willis Sentry Hardware, Clermont FL and Indian River Fruit, Minneola FL. as well as others. Always keeping busy, Thedis was a hard worker, wonderful wife, and loving mother and was loved and respected by many. In addition to her parents a grandson Brandon Modesitt preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband Randel Simmons, daughter Tammy Simmons Modesitt (Guy), son Ricky Simmons (Judith) and her 7 grandchildren; Dustin Modesitt, Kirsten Modesitt, Anya Modesitt, Kaitlyn Hanks, Sidney Hanks, Morgan Johnston, and Eric Robichaux and other extended family.



The family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Ferndale Baptist Church in Ferndale Florida beginning at 11:00 AM Eastern and continue until service time. Funeral Services will begin at Noon in the Chapel at the Ferndale Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Ferndale Cemetery. Thedis will be laid to rest to the right of her eldest grandson Brandon Modesitt. The family will receive friends the same day following the Cemetery Services at the Ferndale Baptist Church's Fellowship Hall.
