Obituary

Terry Dennis Kieft, 74, of Clermont, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Terry was born on March 1, 1939 in Grand Haven, Michigan, the son of Raymond and Geraldine Kieft. After graduating from Grand Haven High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Biloxi, Mississippi, and Homestead, Florida. Following his military service, he moved to West Palm Beach, FL and began working for AT&T. During this time he met and married Nancy (Colquitt) Kieft. He retired from AT&T 28 years later in Washington, D.C. He then spent 10 years working for the Internal Revenue Service, retiring first to Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, and then to Clermont, Florida in 2003. He was an active member of the South Lake Presbyterian Church. An elder of the church, he enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Meals Program.



Terry was a Master Mason from Manteo Lodge #521 AF&AM in Manteo, North Carolina. He joined   Clermont Lodge #226 F&AM in 2003 and served in several offices including Junior Deacon, Senior Deacon, Senior Warden and finally as Treasurer. Terry enjoyed his role as Treasurer having served for the last six years. He directed much of the local charitable activity for the Lodge as a member of the finance committee. He was also a faithful member of the Kings Ridge Masonic Club where he served on the Board of Directors.



In addition to his loving wife of 48 years, Terry is survived by his son Dennis (Terri) Kieft of Frederick, MD; daughter Kelly (Steve) Arslanian of Davidsonville, MD; grandchildren Ryan and Sarah Kieft, Allison and Megan Arslanian; sister Barbara Valbuena of Palm Springs FL; and step-brother Richard Hall (Arlene) of Traverse City, MI.



Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the funeral home. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 8, 2013 at South Lake Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be private in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to South Lake Presbyterian Church, 131 Chestnut Street, Clermont, FL 34711, or to Hubbard House, 29 W. Miller Street, Orlando, FL 32806.
