Stella Helenson, age 92 of Monroeville, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. She was the wife of the late Walter Helenson. She is survived by her brother Chester D. Opalsky, PH.D. of Arlington, VA. She was predeceased by two brothers Vincent Opalsky, Stephen (PAL) Opalsky and four sisters, Laura Gorka, Walterine Palesky, Helen Breskovic and Chesteria (JAY) Sapet and one niece Donna Mae Baldwin. She was the sister-in-law of the late Gertrude Patterson. She will be missed by her 4 nephews and 9 nieces and many grand nephews and nieces. Stella was born in Braddock, PA on March 14, 1922 daughter of Antoinette and Stanislaus Opalsky. She married Walter Helenson on May 1, 1951 at ST. Colman's Church, Turtle Creek, PA. Stella worked for Gateway High School for many years. After Retirement she traveled with her husband to Europe, Mexico and Hawaii and visited nieces and nephews across the US. Stella spent the last 8 years in Clermont, FL with niece Karen Berwick and her husband Stephen. Stella loved to garden and enjoyed her home and listening to Johnny Mathis and music from the 50's. There will be a Christian Burial at ST. Colman's RC Church, 100 Tri-Boro Avenue, Turtle Creek, PA 15145 on June 28, 2014 at 9:30AM. Entombment will follow at ST. Joseph Cemetery, 1443 Lincoln Hwy, N. Versailles, PA 15137. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the "Mike Conley Hospice House", 2100 Oakley Seaver Dive, Clermont, FL 34711.
