Obituary

Stacey Vereen passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024, after a long illness at his home at Brookdale in Altamonte Springs, Fl. at the age of 88. Predeceased by his beloved wife Phyllis (2019). Stacey was a loving father to his daughters Deann (Ron) Thornton and Jennie (Steve) Wilson, and stepsons, Doug and Donnie Perrell. Proud grandfather to Melissa (Mark) Terrell, Jennifer (Gieti) Mojadidi, Stacey (Clay) Suggs, Nathan (Alyssa) Thornton, and Trevor (Briana) Thornton. Great-grandfather to Morgan (Josh) Burns, Anabell Suggs, Tre Suggs, Madison Thornton, Carter Suggs, Collin Thornton, Razia Mojadidi, Mason and Barrett Perrell.

Stacey enjoyed golfing and loved going to the Clubhouse pool. He was involved in church activities such as Sunday school, fellowship during the men's breakfast and dinner gatherings when he was able to participate. Stacey loved going to the horse track and sometimes taking his grandkids to show them the ropes on how to pick a good horse to bet on and then stopping for a bucket of oysters on the way home. He also loved a good baseball game, and you would see him out in the stands during Springtime training. He loved to dance and both his wives loved to dance with him. Stacey has always enjoyed being with his grandkids whether he was taking them to Hershey Park to ride the super dooper looper, going to Washington D.C. to learn about history, spending his summers in Ft. Lauderdale and taking them to the beach, taking them to the pool, listening to them play music and sing, and going to all their extra curricular activities.

We are having a memorial to celebrate Stacey's life at Oakland Presbyterian Church, 218 E. Oakland Ave, Oakland, Fl. on Monday, April 22nd at 3 p.m. with light refreshments to follow.

We send many thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Brookdale Senior Living Center and Advent Health Hospice.
