Sophie Butkus-Pelegrimas-Narkus of Clermont FL passed away peacefully under the care of Cornerstone Hospice and in the presence of her family the morning of April 5, 2014 following a battle with cancer. She was born in Lithuania on November 21, 1921 to Juozos and Marcele Petraityte-Butkus. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Stasys Narkus who passed away January 25, 2012. She is survived by her loving son, Dennis Pelegrimas of Clermont, FL and loving daughter, Irene Keezer of Katy, TX, three grandchildren, Marcus Pelegrimas of Hurricane, WV, Victoria Amadeo of Caty, TX and Justin Keezer of Houston, TX and 2 great-grandchildren, Xavier Keezer and Wyatt Keezer of Houston, TX. Sophie immigrated to the United States in 1951 from Lithuania and relocated in Chicago, IL. She worked for Kraft General Foods in Chicago until she retired in 1986. She lived in California and Arizona with her husband, Stasys, before moving to Leesburg FL in 1997. She and Stasys then moved to Kings Ridge in Clermont FL in 2003. She was a member of the Kings Ridge Needlecrafters, knitting healing shawls for hospitals and nursing homes. She also was a member of the Kings Ridge Aberdeen Spicey Ladies. Sophie's life was all about her family and putting others needs before her own. She will be forever in our hearts.
A memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community Church Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM, followed by a luncheon held at the Kings Ridge Club House in the Aberdeen Room until 3:00 PM.
