Sophia Alice Schmidt, 84, Groveland passed away Wednesday, March 14.  Sophia was born in Kewanee, Ill. and had lived in Groveland for the past 3 years moving from Tavares where she had lived for 36 years.  She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Mount Dora and the Orlando Chapter of the Sweet Adelines.  Survivors include her husband Marvin of Groveland; sons, Ken of Auburndale, Bill (Brenda) of Cocoa and Larry (Sharron) of Groveland.  Other survivors include her sister Mary Streicher, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.



A service to celebrate Sophia's life will be held at 11 AM, Monday, March 19 in the Becker Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.  Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3 -7pm to pay their respects.  For those who wish, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778.  Becker Family Funeral Home, 806 W.
