Obituary

A native of Philadelphia, Shirley Crumedy Robinson was born July 7, 1931 to John and Catherine Crumedy, the eldest of two children. Although she migrated to New York when she was two years old, her heart always remained in Philadelphia with her paternal great-aunt whom she affectionately called "Piggy."

From elementary school through high school, Shirley attended Catholic school in New York City. Although she never graduated from a trade high school as she had hoped, she took much pride in applying her sewing, knitting, crocheting talents to her home and children.

During her early years, Shirley worked as a sales representative at one of New York City's prominent retail stores, 34th Avenue Macy's where she met her husband of 59 years, Jeffrey Robinson. Although she enjoyed her time at Macy's, she relished her time as a Cadette/Senior Girl Scout Troop Leader. For twelve years, prior to retiring and locating to Florida, this mother of six children worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for Green & Green Associates. Whenever possible she announced, "I work for my daughter and son-in-law."

This steadfast persona will be talked about, laughed at, and imitated by her children and grandchildren for many years.

Shirley Robinson's wittiness, baking, sewing, knitting and love for family will be equally remembered by a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In Loving Memory of a Vivacious Spirit

This Mother, Wife and Friend passed away after a brave fight with multiple malignant tumors. Shirley Robinson's battle began in 1998 with the onset of melanoma.

In spite of her condition, this "SURVIVOR" continued enjoying family gatherings, cruising exotic places like Hawaii and offering her witty one-liner comments. Her vivacious spirit has altered her family's perception of pain, love, sorrow and death. Through her strength they've been inspired to face challenges with imagination, creativity and humor. Without a doubt her family's most treasured keepsake will be their vision of her thick frowned brows and doe-eyes gazing up at them. Although they will no longer embrace her physical being, they will always keep her memory in their thoughts and prayers.
