Obituary
Sara Allen Kerns, 94, Clermont, passed away January 9, 2012 at the Mike Conley Hospice House. She was born February 2, 1917 in the Township of Smithfield, Jefferson County, OH. Married to Robert Kerns on June 22, 1946, he preceded her in death on August 29, 1983.
She graduated from Hopedale High School, Hopedale, OH in 1934 then attended West Liberty College in West Virginia earning her BA degree in English in 1939. She was a local resident since the 70's and a retired school teacher at Montverde Academy as well as Minneola Elementary. She played organ and piano for several local churches and taught music.
Surviving nephews; Floyd Hendricks of Rolling Meadows, IL and Dave Hendricks of Wintersville, OH; cousins, Allen V. Sparrow of Hopedale, OH, Martha Jane Brondos of Bloomingdale, OH, John W. Allen of Columbus, OH and Marjorie Allen Faris of Bridgeport, WV and caregiver and close friend Christina Guzman Suarez of Minneola, FL.
The Memorial Service for Sara Kerns will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Garden Cathedral Church of God, 1001 W. Plant St., Winter Garden, FL. Reverend Dr. Ray G. Minger, Pastor, will officiate. The suggested charity is the Mike Conley Hospice House, 2100 Oakley Seaver Dr., Clermont, FL 34711.
