IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samuel A.
Tyndall Sr.
March 4, 1938 – January 2, 2026
Samuel Albert Tyndall Sr., 87, passed away peacefully at home with his devoted wife, Lynn by his side on January 2, 2026.
Born March 4, 1938, to Carlton S. Tyndall and Ada Porter Tyndall; Sam never met a stranger. He was a lifelong entrepreneur, community leader, and devoted family man whose work ethic, leadership, and determination were shaped from an early age following his diagnosis of polio.
As a young boy Sam helped his father on the farm, worked for Southern States, Dukes Lumber, and grew poultry for Frank Perdue. Over the years, Sam was involved in numerous business ventures, including Tyndall Pools and then the purchase and operation of Tastee Freeze in Laurel, Delaware. What began as ownership of a single location grew into a much larger endeavor with multiple stores.
A simple idea following a day of golfing with Lynn led to another successful venture. Tyndall's Pipe and Patio was built from the ground up and became an outlet for Sam's creativity and craftsmanship. Based in Laurel, Delaware, the business served the Mid-Atlantic region for many years and grew into a family enterprise that left a lasting mark on the patio furniture industry.
Sam was deeply committed to his country and community. He served honorably in the National Guard. His memberships included Living Hope Church, President of Laurel School Board for seven years, Broad Creek Grange for more than 50 years and was actively involved in the Jaycees and Ducks Unlimited both locally and at the state level. He also served on the State Game and Fish Committee and was appointed by Senator Roth to the Academy Review Board. After moving to Clermont, Florida, Sam continued his dedication to service as President of the Wellington community in Kings Ridge for 12 years.
In his free time, Sam enjoyed deer hunting, golfing, card games, and following his grandchildren's sports. When health limited his activities, he found joy in watching golfers from his kitchen window as they came down the 7th fairway and could hear their joy, or not, when they putted. He also enjoyed sharing his hunting stories from Delaware, Maryland and Virginia with his friends and family.
Sam's proudest accomplishment was his marriage to his wife, Lynn. She was his business partner and best friend for 68 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Workman (Mark), sister, Virgina Jefferson and brother Lee Tyndall (Debbie). Sam is survived by his son, Samuel Tyndall, Jr. (Kim); his grandchildren John Gordy (Marissa), Samantha Lougheed (Kevin), Shelby Lester (Kenny), Trey Tyndall (Bethany), and Sydney Tyndall (Austin) and his great-grandchildren Case, Kodi, Knox, Forge, Blair, and Tegan. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Phillips and sisters in law, Gay Rogers (Bill) and Christine Hitchens. He was a proud uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Friends are called to gather in Clermont, Florida at the Kings Ridge Clubhouse on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 1:00-3:00pm. In addition, family and friends are invited to celebrate Sam's life in Laurel, Delaware on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Central Worship Center. A visitation will begin at noon with a service following at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in Sam's honor to the American Heart Association.
Sam will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, service to others, love of the outdoors and genuine kindness. To his family, he will always be the devoted husband, father, proud Granddaddy, and a man whose smile could light up a room.
