IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sally Jean
Ricks
July 9, 1953 – December 6, 2024
Sally Jean Ricks, a proud Tuscaloosa, Alabama native, passed away on December 6, 2024, at the age of 71. She was the daughter of Clifford and Martha Cotton, who no doubt welcomed her into heaven with open arms, along with her four sisters, Sandra Metts, Carol Richardson, Barbara Richardson, and Connie Cotton.
Sally's legacy lives on through her siblings, Clifford Cotton (Marilyn) and Jerry Cotton (Audrey); her daughter, Patty Long (James); and her son, Ronnie Ricks (Kim). She was the beloved grandmother of Cody Pitts, Michael Long, Courtney Long (Cody Crawford), Luke Ricks (Hannah), Dalton Ricks (Chelsea), Seth Ricks, and Beau Ricks, and the proud great-grandmother of eight spirited little ones.
Sally's life was a mix of faith, humor, and a dash of mischief. She adored the Lord and always believed in His grace—especially when it came to forgiving her love of a good card game. Sally was also a self-proclaimed non-gossiper, but if you wanted the scoop, she always seemed to have it. "I'm not one to gossip," she'd say with a sly smile, "but did you hear…?"
Her sense of humor was as sharp as her wit. Sally had a knack for turning any story into a comedy special, and her family gatherings often ended in laughter thanks to her. She'd tell you exactly what she thought—whether you asked or not—and yet, you always left the conversation feeling loved.
Sally will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and anyone lucky enough to have crossed her path. Her presence will linger in the stories shared at family reunions, the prayers whispered at church, and the laughter that echoes when someone tells a tale "just like Sally used to."
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she's now watching over them, likely from the best seat at the heavenly bingo hall, with her sisters by her side.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you spend a little extra time with your loved ones—preferably with cards in hand—and share a laugh or two in honor of Sally's spirited life.
