Ruthann Peyton Deel, formally of South Charleston, WV born on April 1, 1937, passed away surrounded by her closest family at her residence in Minneola, Florida on March 18, 2020. Ruthann was preceded in death by her husband, David G Deel. Survived by loving daughters; Kelly Deel Krueger, Karey Deel McCracken. Grandchildren; Jason A Krueger, Erica Krueger (Travis) Page, Jordan D McCracken, Kaitlyn N McCracken. Great-Grand Children; Logan D McCracken, Aubrey Bean McCracken. Loving Brother; Rev. James M. (Joann) Peyton. Sister-in-law Sue Deel (Herman) Heartwell; brother and Sister-in-Laws; Late Pastor Eddie (Kay) Deel.
Ruthann was born in South Charleston, West Virginia to William and Ruth Peyton. She lived in South Charleston for 32 years, in which time she married David. Ruthann and David were blessed with two daughters, Kelly and Karey. They relocated to Franklin, New Jersey; where they spent the next 13 years raising their family. Ruthann and David moved to Clermont, Florida in 1981; where they have since resided. Ruthann had two careers in her life for which was very proud. She worked as an Administrative Secretary for the Walt Disney World Company for 15 years, from which she retired. She then worked as a PBX Operator for South Lake Hospital for 20 years; of which she also retired. Ruthann remained active with her graduating High School Class of 1955, many of whom reside in Florida. She very much enjoyed their social gatherings and Class Reunions. She was very fond of the lifelong friendships she maintained with her classmates. Music was a very important part of Ruthann's life. She played the Clarinet in her High School Band, was a member of multiple church choirs and Disney choirs. She was a proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Disney held a special place in her life, as well as in lives of her family. Countless memories were made with family at Disney, all of which were made possible by her and David's service to the Disney Corporation. Ruthann had a strong faith in God and was a devout Baptist. Ruthann was the Matriarch of a very tight-knit family, to which she was eternally devoted.
Ruthann was more commonly referred to as "Grammy" for all who knew and loved her. For everyone who knew Grammy, they know how special of a lady she was. Grammy had many challenges in her life, but never showed it or allowed it to waiver her faith and strength. To her family she was a great source of strength and wisdom. Grammy touched so many lives and everyone is better for having known her. She built an amazing family to whom she taught the power of faith, courage, resilience and compassion. She was truly a remarkable woman that will be forever missed. As the Matriarch of her family; life will not be the same without her. We will carry her teachings of strength, courage and faith with us always.
The family will hold a Celebration of life in the near future, details will be shared with family and friends of Grammy when they are made available.
