Obituary

Ruth O. Frey passed away Saturday August 23, 2025 from complications due to pneumonia. Even though failing health took her away from this world, her loving heart left a beacon of light and laughter for all who ever knew her and cared for her.

Born and raised in Switzerland, Ruth became a world traveler at a young age, and in 1954 she began her exciting travel journeys with a relocation cruise to Canada. In Canada, she met her husband to be, also from Switzerland, Guy F. Frey. Together, they eventually moved to the United States working many culinary and hospitality positions in prestigious hotels and country clubs coast to coast. Their adventures brought them to New York City, where they had their only daughter, Sandra.
Ruth's relocations in the luxury Hotel industry continued for many years returning to Switzerland, Germany and eventually back to the United States. Ruth's homes included Manhattan, St. Louis, Orlando, San Antonio, New Orleans, & Washington D.C., where Ruth and Guy went into business for themselves honoring their heritage with a Swiss Bakery.
Retirement brought Ruth and Guy to Florida in pursuit of Guy's retirement dream, a cattle farm in the Panhandle of Florida.

Ruth has been a wonderful wife, a caring mother to her daughter Sandy and a ray of sunshine to everyone she knew.

Ruth requested her remains be cremated so she may once again be reunited with her beloved husband Guy Frey.
Her immediate family will be privately honoring Ruth with a life celebration.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sandra Burgess and son-in-law, William, her granddaughters, Alexandra Smith, Amanda McCrary & Angelina Burgess and by her great-grandchildren Jack and Piper Smith.
