IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Russell Edmund
Hope
June 12, 1937 – October 8, 2021
Russell E. Hope
After a lengthy illness, Russell Hope went peacefully to his heavenly home Friday, October 8, surrounded by family. Born June 12, 1937, in Springfield, Massachusetts, the youngest of 3 boys. The family settled in Fort Lauderdale, Florida when he was young. He attended The University of Florida where he met the love of his life, Peggy, who became his wife of 59 years.
Russ and Peggy lived in Pompano Beach, Florida for many years. Russ was an architect, co-owning his own firm, then worked for FAU as he drew closer to retirement. He was active in the community and in the Episcopal church. He was a loving and attentive husband, father and grandfather and an all-around nice guy.
He retired to Groveland, Florida in 2003, longing for a lake view. He spent many hours admiring that view, fishing with his grandchildren and remained active in the church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Thelma and brothers Roger and Bob. He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Groveland, Florida, son David (Amber) Hope of Billings, Montana, daughter Allison (Albert) Alexander of Winter Haven, Florida, granddaughter Katy (Zac) Beardall of Cody, Wyoming, and grandson Karston Hope of Billings, Montana. Also surviving are his nephew Mike (Ellen) Hope of Tampa, Florida, his nieces Diana Hope and Beth (Ralph) Lewis of North Carolina.
Arrangements are being handled by Becker Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 16 at Saint Matthias Episcopal Church in Clermont, with interment at the Memorial Garden at Saint Matthias. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Saint Matthias Episcopal Church of Clermont or Faith Neighborhood Center of Groveland.
