Roy James Nuckoles, 71, Clermont, passed away March 18, 2011 at the Mike Conley Hospice House. He was born July 13, 1939 in Staunton, VA son of Oliver & Catherine Strickler Nuckoles. He served in the US Navy and retired to Florida 22 years ago from Staunton after selling his SavMor Grocery chain. He was united in marriage to Loretta J. Wood on March 24, 1958 in Elizabeth City, NC and was a former member of the Richmond, VA Lion's Club. His brothers Ray & Steven Nuckoles preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife Loretta; children Deborah Nuckoles & Benita (Fred) Bard all of Brooksville, FL & Laurie (John) Meerleveld, Clermont; grandchildren Jennifer, Charlotte, Jonathan, Jessica & Christopher; siblings, Ronnie (Wanda) Nuckoles, Davenport, FL; Eddie (Mary) Nuckoles & Ethel (Buddy) Robbins all of Conley. GA; Billy (Patty) Nuckoles, Staunton, VA & Joe Nuckoles, Nashville, TN & sisters-in-law Catherine & Janet Nuckoles both of Staunton.



The funeral service for Roy Nuckoles will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 21, 2011 in the Becker Chapel. Minister Bob Beaver, Christian & Missionary Alliance will officiate. Burial will follow in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Visitation will be from 3-4 PM on Sunday.
