IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Routie
Singh
May 24, 1942 – March 27, 2020
Obituary for Routie Singh, female 77 years old, born on May 24, 1942, deceased March 27, 2020 at her daughter's residence in Minneola, Florida, USA.
Mrs. Routie Singh, also known as "Annie" was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Manoo Gopie of Mahalca, Guyana and she was the sister of Mini Dass previously from Chelsea Park, Mahaica. She was the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Minkoo of Clonbrook, Guyana. Routie was the beloved daughter-in-law of the late Mr. and Mrs. Omrow Singh of Guyana. She was the s
ister-in-law of the late Mohan, Lucille, Ronald, Jack Thones and Jai Singh, also of Shiela, Savo, Bharat, Aileen, Indra, Lowtie, Joe and Jeewan Dass.
Routie Singh was the wife of the late Mr. Latchman Singh (Rambeer).
She came as a young, innocent, blushing bride from the rural Mahaica to join her husband in Georgetown,Guyana. Her marriage was pre-arranged by her foreparents after completing her secondary education. Heedless, of not being aware of her proposal, her marriage lasted a "whopping 54 years". With her fruitful marriage, Routie brought forth five wonderful, supportive and caring daughters; Brishpatte (Sandra) Ramraj,
Routie was a beloved, easy-going homemaker, who excelled at cooking all the West Indian specialty meals. She baked mouth watering pastries like salaras, coconut rolls, goja, phoulorie and worked also as a shopkeeper. Her kitchen gardening was fruitful for her home usage and she was contented. Routie's skills as a seamstress were flawless and unparalleled, that she even made school bags, uniforms, dresses, table cloths, drapes and sheets out of flour bags material. It was so humorous, because she made dresses for her five daughters to" look a like" with the same bolt of colored cloth, but with different styles. Best of all she was a caring babysitter who placed her heart in childcare. In her leisure time Routie also raised chickens, ducks and lamb with eggs and milk teetering. Her grandchildren were the " apples of her eyes" and she made them feel special on their graduations and birthdays celebrations.
Unfortunately, after Routie migrated to the USA in 1988, she became acutely ill with her heart and she declined significantly. She required ongoing medical monitoring and follow up treatments. She sustained multiple life - saving heart interventions and surgeries. Good news is, despite her ailments back then, she had managed to survive her husband and youngest child, her only son. Routie has surpassed above and beyond her weaknesses with her innermost strength, prayers and resiliency.
Routie Singh finally bid us farewell after she threw her hands in the air and muttered three times "God take me please, take me". She took her last gasp of air on March 27, 2020 and departed "like a gentle breeze" in the storm of a night. Pain-free and smiling. The Lord opened his gates and he beckoned her in.
