Rosalba (Rose) Roth, 75, passed away in her home in Groveland, Florida on Monday November 2nd, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.  She is survived by her husband Steven Roth, daughters Lina Gonzalez and Catherine Hernandez, 4 grandchildren: Laura Gonzalez, Christopher, Matthew and Katlyn Tello and brothers Hernan and Gilberto Zapata.

Rose was born in the small town of San Carlos, Colombia on January 18, 1945. She was one of 5 children. Her father Paulino Zapata was a contractor and mother Laura Vasquez was a housewife and devoted catholic who initially wanted to become a nun. The family moved to Medellin, Colombia where Rose went to elementary school at Pedro Claver Aguirre and secondary school at Normalista Superior at El CEFA. Later she worked as a teacher at Manuel Alzate Avendaño and Normalista Superior at El CEFA. She was an artistic and adventurous soul and was always made up to perfection before heading off anywhere especially to go teach French at her secondary school. Her home in Colombia included many of her personal abstract paintings and wood etches while hosting regular social gatherings with closest friends and colleagues.

She immigrated to the states in 1980 bringing her first daughter Lina to New York and joining her first husband, Oscar Hernandez who had immigrated a few years earlier. Their second daughter Catherine was born in Queens, New York in 1981. Rose found work in retail and moved up the ranks eventually working at New York's prestigious Bergdorf Goodman.  Her artistic eye for quality and her contagious charisma were the perfect combination to work with high end retail clientele, whom she entertained and served for many decades. While working retail she met Steve Roth, fell in love and married in 1995. They shared 25 years of wonderful memories living in New York, traveling to Bahamas and Colombia visiting family and sharing her final days while she battled cancer in Groveland, Florida.

In her final years she devoted most of her time to her children, grandchildren and her Catholic faith. Many of her prayers were made to the souls in purgatory and coincidentally she passed on November 2nd which for Catholics marks the feast dedicated to the Souls in Purgatory.  She used her artistic skills to make rosaries, she was a part of bible studies and attended church retreats at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Even in her later years her charismatic personality always made an impact as she charmed, taught and shared her joy, faith and artistic skills with her fellow congregants, friends.

Rosalba (Rose) Roth, de 75 años, falleció en su casa en Groveland, Florida el lunes 2 de noviembre del 2.020 acompañada por su familia. Ella es sobrevivida por su esposo Steven Roth, hijas Lina Gonzalez y Catherine Hernandez, cuatro nieto/as: Laura Gonzalez, Christopher, Matthew y Katlyn Tello y dos hermanos Hernan y Gilberto Zapata.

Rose nació en San Carlos, Colombia el 18 de enero del 1.945. Una de cinco hermanos, su padre Paulino Zapata era contratista y su madre Laura Vasquez ama de casa y devota católica que casi se convierte en monja.  La familia se mudo a Medellín, Colombia donde Rose estudió la primaria en la escuela Pedro Claver Aguirre y Normalista Superior en El Centro Educacional Femenino de Antioquia (CEFA). Trabajo como profesora en el Manuel Alzate Avendaño y en El CEFA. Rose era un alma aventurera y artística siempre lucía a la perfección antes de salir a cualquier parte especialmente para ir a enseñar en su escuela secundaria. Su casa en Colombia estaba decorada con muchas de sus propias pinturas abstractas y artesanías donde regularmente también fue anfitriona de muchos eventos sociales con sus colegas y amigos más cercanos.

Ella emigró a los Estado Unidos en el 1.980 en compañía de su primera hija Lina Maria y llegó a Nueva York para reunirse con su primer esposo, Oscar Hernandez el cual había emigrado dos años antes. Su segunda hija Catherine nació en Queens en 1.981.  Rose encontró trabajo en ventas al por menor y desarrolló su habilidad como vendedora eventualmente trabajando en la prestigiosa tienda de Bergdorf Goodman. Su ojo artístico y carisma contagioso eran la perfecta combinación en su labor con clientela de gama alta la cual ella sirvió y divirtió por muchas décadas. Durante su trabajo en ventas Rose conoció y se enamoró de Steve Roth eventualmente casándose en 1.995. Compartieron 25 años de muchos lindos recuerdos viviendo en Nueva York, viajando a las Bahamas y visitando la familia en Colombia. Al igual que en sus últimos días de vida mientras batallaban con el cáncer en su casa en Groveland, Florida.

En sus últimos años Rose fue devota a sus hijas, nieto/as y su fe a la iglesia católica. Muchas de sus oraciones fueron dedicadas a las almas del purgatorio que por coincidencia su fecha de su fallecimiento, 2 de noviembre, se celebran las fiestas conmemorativas a las almas del purgatorio en la fe católica.  Ella usó sus habilidades artísticas para armar rosarios, fue parte de los estudios bíblicos y asistió a los retiros de la iglesia católica Blessed Sacrament. En sus últimos años su alegría, carisma, enseñanzas y fe impacto enormemente a sus amistades y fieles de su iglesia.
