IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Leroy
Thurston
July 23, 1932 – September 30, 2022
Ronald L. Thurston, 90, died peacefully on September 30,2022 at his home in Clermont, Fl. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anita Kent Thurston and 4 older sisters, Joyce, Arlene, Eleanor and Patsy. He is survived by his 3 children, Ronald J. Thurston, Julie Tanner (Thurston), Richard K. Thurston, wife Kimberly and 3 grandchildren, Michelle, Kevin and Andy Thurston.
He was born in Montezuma N.Y. to Velma and Archie Thurston. Soon after high school graduation he joined the Marines to serve his country. He was active in the Korean war and spent time at the Marine Corps Base- Camp Lejeune. Upon leaving the military he attended State University of NY Cortland where he met the love of his life. They married in 1956 and moved to Endicott N.Y., Poughkeepsie N.Y. and Raleigh N.C. where he continued to work for IBM. He retired to Apopka Florida where his love of cars created a family business " Thurston Auto Sales" from 1993- present day. When he wasn't selling cars you could find him on the golf course making a bet or two with his buddies. He actually had his 4th hole-in-one just 4 years ago at Kings Ridge golf course in Clermont Florida where he lived.
He had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter where he was. He was a truly great man with a HUGE heart whose impact will be forever felt by his family and those who knew and loved him. At his request, there will be a private family memorial. Donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice of Clermont, Florida.
