Obituary

Robert G. Ruiseco, born on September 24, 1954, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 5, 2024 after a sudden illness.

Born in Miami, Florida to Cuban immigrants, Robert graduated from Miami High School in 1972 while attending George T. Baker Aviation School.  He earned his pilot's license and flew privately as a hobby.  He began his career working for Airborne Freight Corporation first in Miami and then in San Francisco, where he met his wife.  Robert later moved on to a second career in the furniture business, eventually becoming the president of Coco Islands Rattan for over 18 years where he oversaw purchasing, design, and sales.  He then founded an e-commerce furniture business called Stix N Things which he ran until his retirement in 2018.  For many years Robert volunteered his time to the Boy Scouts of America, coordinating trips for his son's troop.

In addition to always caring for his family and being lovingly known as "Pipo" to his five grandchildren, Robert was a loyal friend to many, an expert travel planner, a foodie, and a Miami Dolphins fan. He will be remembered for his sense of adventure, his generous nature, his willingness to help even a stranger, and his ability to see the good in people.

Robert was preceded in death by his sister Nilda (Luis) Cuello and parents Rafael and Juana Ruiseco.  He will be deeply missed by his wife of 46 years Debra Ruiseco, son Nicholas (Jessica) Ruiseco, daughter Kristen (Michael) Weinbaum, grandchildren Jackson, Luke, and Samuel Ruiseco and Gabrielle and Owen Weinbaum, niece Yvette (Juan Carlos) Barreto, great niece Carolina Barreto, and great newphew/godson Luis (Alexandra) Barreto.

There will be a gathering in his memory at a later date. The family suggests memorials in Robert's name to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org ) or the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org )
