Robert was born in River Rogue, Michigan. He lived most of his adult life in Newark, Ohio and Marshall, Michigan where he worked for Walker Manufacturing/Tenneco Automotive until his retirement. He and his wife, Joanne, moved to Groveland, Florida soon after and enjoyed their life in a warmer climate. Robert, or Bob as he was known by his friends was well liked in his retirement community of The Woodlands at Church Lake. He played Bingo and cards most days of the week and he could be seen driving around in his golf cart through the woods and all over the Park. Robert was active in sports all his life and he enjoyed golfing and fishing whenever he could. He was extremely proud of grandchildren's accomplishments in both athletics and academics. He loved watching them play their sports whenever he could.
Robert was married to his wife, Joanne, for almost 58 years. They met and were married while serving in the United States Marine Corp in Quantico, Virginia. Bob was proud to be a Marine and a Veteran. He and Joanne have two children; Jennifer and Scott. He was a coach and mentor to many young people while at the same time watching all his own children's sport games at Newark Catholic High School, his alma mater.
Robert is survived by his wife, Joanne, daughter, Jennifer Bell, son, Scott Rogers, sister, Martha Trumpore, daughter-in-law, Christina, his grandchildren; Blake Bell, Madelyn Bell, Brooke Bell, Carson Rogers, Katie Shipley, Zackary Rogers, and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Rogers, sister, Richalene Ray, and son-in-law Bob Bell.
Services with full military honors will be held on August 15, 2023 at 11:30 AM in Bushnell, Florida at the Florida National Cemetery. A social luncheon will follow at 1:30 for friends and family in the Clubhouse of The Woodlands at Church Lake Retirement Community. We ask for your continued thoughts and prayers.
