Robert Edward O'Brien, 74, passed away on July 30, 2023, in Clermont, Florida after a short battle with cancer. Robert was born on March 22, 1949, in Wakefield, Michigan. He was the son of Robert Emmett O'Brien and Marian Hendrickson O'Brien.
Robert was a 1967 graduate of Ashland High School in Ashland, Wisconsin. He studied music at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he was a member and soloist with the Singing Statesmen and University Chorus, and received his Bachelor's degree in 1973. Robert continued his studies in music at the University of Central Florida, where he earned a Master's degree in Music Education and completed his Doctoral Internship in Choral Music at Arizona State University School of Music. Robert taught music in Mesa, Arizona until his retirement. Robert had a passion for creative writing and poetry and resided in Clermont, Florida following his retirement.
He is survived by his two children, Benjamin Britten, Hudson, Wisconsin, Molly (Per) Holmgren, St. Francisville, Louisiana, two grandchildren, Anna and Charlotte Holmgren, three sisters, Ruth (Rich) Campbell, Edina, Minnesota, Mary Ann Huber, Madison, Wisconsin, Margaret O'Brien, Middleton, Wisconsin, former spouse, Mary Britten, Hudson, Wisconsin, four nieces, two nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Dick Huber and Gary Jellish.
Bob will be buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ashland, Wisconsin in September.
