Robert Victor Newman, Sr., 80, Leesburg, FL passed away October 16, 2012 at the Mike Conley House in Clermont, FL. He was born October 27, 1931 in Jackson, MI son of Peter Newman & Verona Moore Newman. He served in the US Air Force and was a retired Law Enforcement Officer. On July 21, 1965 he was united in marriage to Barbara J. France in Pontiac, MI. A local resident since 2008 from Rogers City, MI he was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church; VFW; Fraternal Order of Police; American Legion & Knights of Columbus. His siblings Phil Newman, Patricia Newman, Joyce Gemmell & Jack Newman preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife Barbara; children Cheryl Ann (Roger) Wagner, Phoenix, AZ; Robert (Joy) Newman, Jr., Thailand; Gary (Debbie) Newman, Beaufort, SC; Debbie (Ed) Santangelo, Clarkston, MI; John (Darlene) Newman, Northville, MI; Denis Newman, Rockford, MI; Kim (Stephen) Smith, Orlando, FL; Kelly (Beth) Newman, Chandler, AZ & Pamela (Greg) Call, White Lake, MI; 20 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren & siblings Fran Doesken, Graham, WA; Mary Jane Shallue, Milton, FL; Louella Johnson, Atlanta, MI & Paul Newman, Lake Orion, MI.



The graveside service for Robert Newman will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 19, 2012 in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with Reverend Craig Morley officiating.
