Robert "Bob" Louis Milke, 85, of Gainesville, FL and former resident of Clermont, FL passed away Monday, May 16, 2011. Bob was born on November 14, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Delbert and Hilda Milke. He was a graduate of Marquette University, Milwaukee as well as the FBI Academy, Quantico, VA. He served as a the first Chief of Police of Mequon, WI serving in that position for 10 years, before moving to Central Florida in 1968. Bob then worked and retired from Valencia Community College as the Director of Governmental Services. He was a member of various organizations including the Marquette Alumni Assoc., FBI National Academy Florida Chapter, International Police Chiefs Assoc., Retired Police Officers Assoc., as well as being a member of Woodlands Lutheran Church, Montverde, FL and First Lutheran Church, Gainesville. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Audrey of Gainesville; children, Scott Milke and wife Mame of Fruitland Park, FL, Claudia Reynolds and husband Tom of Gainesville, Allison Mann and husband Gary of Gainesville and Mariann Swenson and partner Mike Herington of Clermont; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Robert's life will be held at 4PM Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Becker Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Lehman officiating. He will be inurned with Military Honors at a later date in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
