Robert "Bob" E. Shobe, 77, passed away Wednesday March 30, 2022 at Orlando Regional Medical Center. He was born April 16, 1944 in Cumberland, MD.
Bob is a 1962 graduate from South Hagerstown High School; after high school he attended Hagerstown Junior College where he received his Associate's degree. He spent the majority of his career doing what he loved, selling large trucks for Mack and International in Hagerstown MD and Orlando FL. In his early years he was also an avid antique collector and an expert at restoring and refinishing antique furniture and repairing antique clocks. Bob loved to travel, from buying and selling antiques in Europe and Japan, to visiting children in AZ, CO, GA, MA, TX and Italy. His favorite place to travel was the BVIs with his wife Rosetta and many of their dear friends. When he wasn't traveling, he loved boating and fishing and teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish, water ski, kneeboard and jet ski on Lake Minnehaha.
Bob and his wife attended Real Life Christian Church. He was a member of the South Lake Elks #1848 and was also an active Zeus of the Beta Theta sorority in Clermont, FL, volunteering numerous hours raising money for charities in his community. Bob was the most patient, gentle, kindhearted man and was dearly loved by all.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Catherine Shobe of Hagerstown MD; and his sisters, Jayne Smith and Cindy Quinn. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Rosetta, his sister Sharon Trovinger of Cumberland MD, his children Cammy (Dennis) Shobe Hanley of Apache Junction AZ, Tricia (Mark) Bair of Hagerstown MD, Darren (Nicole) Cunningham of Sanford FL, and Jason (Jodi) Cunningham of Nashville TN; grandchildren Connor Hanley of Phoenix AZ, Dylan Hanley of Apache Junction AZ, Lauren Bair and Lindsey Bair of Hagerstown MD, Tyler Cunningham of St. Joseph MI, Jaxson Cunningham of Sanford FL, Bailey (Drew) Davis of San Antonio TX and Noah (Hannah) Cunningham of Augusta GA, many nieces and nephews, and last, his devoted furry companion Maggie.
Services will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 806 W Minneola Ave, Clermont FL 34711 on Saturday April 2, 2022. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00pm, the service will start at 2pm.
A celebration of Bob will be held after the service at the home of Toni Bell Rescoe, 1139 W. Lakeshore Dr. Clermont FL 34711, staring at 3:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob's name to the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association.
