Robert Thomas Carney passed away on Monday, February 25th, 2019, in the comfort of his home in Clermont, FL, at the age of 72.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol, and his 4 sons: Bob, Jon, Tom, and Joe, his daughters-in-law: Melissa and Jackie, and six grandchildren: Brianna, Evan, Kayla, Sammi, Thomas, and Bailey.  He was brother to Eugene, Dale, Walter, and his late sister Elizabeth.

Born on December 4, 1946 in Queens, NY, he was the son of Robert Francis and Elizabeth.  He grew up in Hicksville, NY, and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He married his high school sweetheart, Carol, in 1968.  They moved to Centereach, NY and raised four sons.

Robert worked hard for his family and became Union President of his local CSEA.  He always found time to support his sons, and enjoyed coaching and watching their sports teams, especially baseball.

He retired to Clermont, FL, in 2000 and enjoyed being Granddad, spending lots of quality time with his six grandchildren, including many trips to Disney.

Robert was a kind, gentle, and wise person, who always found the right words to say when they were needed the most.  The legacy he leaves behind is that nothing is more important than family.

A ceremony of Military Funeral Honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
