Rita Loretta (Stumpf) Marsolais, 85, Clermont, passed away January 23, 2011 at Orlando Regional Medical Center. She was born January 16, 1926 in Leicester, Mass daughter of Albert Stumpf & Emma Schady Stumpf. A graduate of Ascension High School in Worcester, Mass she held a B.S. and Master's in nursing from Boston College. She also studied at Emmanuel College, Rivier College, Mary Manse College & St. Peter's General Hospital School of Nursing. She held a variety of positions in the health and education field. She taught first grade pupils at the Protectory of Mary Immaculate in Lawrence, Mass., served as a general duty nurse, assistant head nurse, and director of Nursing Service at St. Peter's General Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ; director of Nursing Service at St. Vincent Hospital & Medical Center in Toledo, OH and director of Holy Ghost Hospital School of Practical Nursing in Cambridge, Mass. She was a Sister of Charity, Grey Nuns of Montreal for 30+ years prior to her marriage to Paul R. Marsolais, who preceded her in death in 1994. She and her twin were the youngest of ten children, all now deceased. Active in her church, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, she was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Sacristan & Minister to the Sick and other ministries.. Surviving are her step-children Brian Marsolais & Paula Tate both of Hudson, NH & Pamela Thompson, Nashua, NH and several nieces & nephews.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Andrew Wawrzycki, dear friend of Rita, as Celebrant conselebrated by Very Reverend Robert Webster.. Visitation will be from 10 -11 at the church. Inurnment will be in Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
