IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard N
Turenne
August 30, 1944 – March 19, 2025
Richard N. Turenne, 80, of Clermont, Florida, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 19. He was born on August 30, 1944, in Wilmington, DE, and was the son of the late Donat and Delia (Dugas) Turenne.
Richard (Dick) was the valedictorian of the class of 1965 at Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School in Danielson, CT, and earned a full scholarship to the University of Hartford. Dick was a go-getter throughout his life. In 1973 he started his own real estate company, Quality Real Estate, in Southington, CT, with his devoted wife and business partner, Penny Turenne. His determination to be prosperous began with selling residential properties and expanded to commercial real estate with closing properties, such as The Home Depot in Milldale and multiple properties on Queen Street in Southington. Dick's enterprising personality led to the development of streets and subdivisions, becoming a member of the Board of REALTORS® and a certified appraiser. Throughout his 50 plus years in the real estate business, he made lasting friends while realizing his dream.
Not only did Dick sell property, but he also built his home-away-from-home on the lac Lamarre in Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Canada. How proud he was that he built his vacation home from the ground up with his strong hands to make lasting memories with his family.
With his countless hours of work, Dick did find time to keep his shirt and tie in the closet to enjoy his passion of the great outdoors. From snowmobiling with his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and cousins in Canada to hunting and fishing in Alaska, Dick was an avid sportsman. He even shared stories of catching two salmon on one hook with the bears watching him on Kodiak Island.
While Dick was not one to relax, he did enjoy traveling the world of sun and snow with his beloved wife Penny and friends. Sailing the high seas to explore Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean destinations made his rosy cheeks beam with all his smiles. He also tried his best to get the King's Guard to smile at Buckingham Place, and the bearskin cap worn by the Foot Guards was probably the only type of hat he didn't own. There were multiple trips to the Caribbean with the love of his life, Penny. Besides the yearly trip to Canada, his snow destinations included the enchanting winter wonderlands of Chamonix, France, and the Austrian Alps where he and Penny enjoyed horse drawn sleigh rides, cross country skiing, and all the amazing historic sites.
In the Spring of 2022, Dick and Penny relocated to the Sunshine State. He found his dream home at Magnolia Pointe in Clermont, FL, where he was able to fish, jet ski, and boat right in his backyard all of which he enjoyed right up to the moment of his unexpected passing.
Dick was also known as Mr. Fixit. From cars or anything with wheels to homes, he was always ready to help. His family and friends always turned to Mr. Fixit to get the job done. His many talents and willingness to lend a helping hand will surely be missed!
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Constance "Penny" (Veilleux) Turenne; his two daughters Monique Turenne of Quincy, MA, and Michelle Turenne of Rocky Hill, CT; his grandchildren Lauren Orsini of Stamford, CT, Michael and Ronnie Orsini of Rocky Hill, CT; his sister Lorraine McKeever, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as many friends who will miss him dearly.
A mass of celebration will be held on April 25 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 720 12th Street, Clermont, FL. In lieu of flowers, people may choose to remember Dick (Richard N. Turenne) with a donation to St. Jude Memorials at https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR?px=8765561&fr_id=154020&pg=personal
We find comfort in knowing that Dick's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
