IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Mark
Meacham
July 22, 1962 – March 24, 2022
Richard Mark Meacham born on July 22, 1962, passed away peacefully in his home of 22+ years in Clermont, FL on March 24, 2022.
Richard, or Mark to many, was born in Fulton, Kentucky to Amelia and Dick Revis Meacham (deceased) where he lived with his younger sister, Mary Ellen. After living in Memphis for a year and attending Memphis State University, Richard moved to Cocoa Beach, FL and then to Orlando, FL to work for Walt Disney World Resort and attend the Disney Culinary Program where he became a well-respected Chef for over 33 years. He was affectionately known from then on as "Chef Richard". He worked his way up to become a Leader of Leaders and win the prestigious Disney Partners in Excellence award. During his journey with Walt Disney World Resort he worked at various resorts (Grand Floridian-Narcoossee's, Polynesian Village- O'Hana, Port Orleans – Boatwright's and both resorts' quick service areas, Contemporary Resort – Chef Mickey's). He also worked in the waterpark, Typhoon Lagoon, and completed his career at Disney's Animal Kingdom from which he retired in February 2022. His most cherished accomplishments at Disney were to be a part of the opening team of the Wilderness Lodge Resort, where he exceeded in his career and met great lifelong friends. He was also very proud to have been part of the culinary training team on the Disney Magic (Disney's first ship of the Disney Cruise Line fleet) making the first trans-Atlantic sailing from Italy to Florida in 1998. And, also where he proposed to his wife. He had the pleasure of being invited back to the Magic as a Guest Chef on another trans-Atlantic sailing in 2016 and was able to bring his wife and children for this sailing. His favorite role, however, was to be part of the opening of Pandora in Disney's Animal Kingdom and the restaurant, Satu'li Canteen, which is still one of the top quick service locations in all of the Walt Disney World Resort. He was admired and loved by many of his fellow cast members that he worked with along his journey. Their outpour of love is greatly appreciated.
Richard had a strong passion for his job, his family, race cars, guns, and his country. He loved to make the guests happy and help others. He was very proud of his wife and children and would tell everyone he worked with all about them. He suffered several illnesses in the past few years before his death and will be missed by many.
Survived by his wife, Stacey Meacham, loving mother, Amelia Meacham Wiesman (Clermont, FL) and stepfather, Chuck Wiesman. Beloved father to sons, Richard Meacham (wife, Becky Meacham), Wyatt Meacham and daughters, Kyndall Meacham and Makynna Meacham. Grandfather to Molly and Milo Meacham. And, beloved sister, Mary Ellen Ferner (husband Steve) in Colorado Springs, CO. Pre-deceased Father, Dick Revis Meacham, Grandparents, Dudley and Maxie Meacham, and Margaret and Robbie Grissom.
There is no memorial service planned. A Celebration of Chef Richard has been planned by his friends at Persimmon Hollow Brewing Co. (140 Sugar Belle Dr., Winter Garden, FL 34787). A remembrance for the immediate family will be planned at a future date.
