Richard H
Dunkerton
April 10, 1959 – January 26, 2026
Richard Howard Dunkerton April 10, 1959 - January 26, 2026 Richard Howard Dunkerton suddenly "graduated" to heaven early on January 26, 2026. Richard is survived by his wife, Janice and his son, Zachary. He is also survived by his sister, Karen (Craig), brother, Tom (Anne), and brother Don (Mary). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family. Rich was re-united in heaven with his parents, Dick and Barbara Dunkerton and his sister Kathy (Kevin).
Richard (known to many as Rich or Richie) was the fourth child born to Richard and Barbara Dunkerton on April 10, 1959 in West Chester, PA. Being the child of missionary parents he grew up in Bongo, Tanzania and Nakuru and Machakos, Kenya, E. Africa. He attended Arusha Primary School and Rift Valley Academy through 11th grade and completed his high school years in Atlantic City, NJ. He was always good with his hands and enjoyed making things, carving and building. He studied cabinet making at Central College in Kansas, achieving an AA.
Rich married Janice Baker on June 7, 1986 in Laurel Springs, NJ. They were both very involved at Laurel Hill Bible Church in AWANA, as a deacon and in Women's ministry. In 1989 they made the decision to become Staff at Cedar Lane Missionary Homes, a ministry providing furnished, affordable housing to missionaries on furlough. They were involved in maintenance and grounds keeping and caretaking ministries. The Lord blessed them with Zachary Richard on June 3, 1995. In 1999 they moved to Florida to serve in a similar ministry at D & D Missionary Homes.
In 2002 they joined Africa Inland Mission and moved to the AIM Retirement Center in Minneola, Fl where Rich again served in maintenance and grounds keeping. Janice worked as secretary at Minneola Alliance Church and homeschooled Zachary. Rich served faithfully at the AIM Retirement Center until he suffered a stroke in 2018. Although he made an amazing recovery he was no longer able to work and retired. They continued to live at the AIM Retirement Center and both Janice and Rich were lovingly cared for by their son, Zachary.
A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for April 10, 2026.
