Rene Gregory Hetu, 76, Leesburg, passed away April 30, 2011 at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont. He was born December 18, 1934 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada son of Oswald Hetu & Marie Rose Dionne Hetu. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict & Vietnam Era later joining the Army Reserves. On January 28, 1972 he was united in marriage to Joanne Elliott in Detroit, MI. He retired from Ford Motor Company as a model maker. A local resident since 2000 from Northville, MI he was active in Royal Highlands community where he played softball & was an umpire, was on the architectural committee and a member of the Michigan Club. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. In his earlier years he mentored elementary school students. Surviving is his wife Judy; children Dianne (Tom) Gotelaere, Ann Arobr, MI; Kimberly (Steve) Laycock, Canton, MI; Robin (Bob) Falsone, Ashburn, VA; Laurie (Jim) Neinas, Sturgeon Bay, WI; Maureen Hetu, Livonia, MI & Mike (June) Senick, Milford, MI; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson & siblings Theresa Welsh, Linwood, MI; Denise (Bernie) Thomas, Brighton, MI; Yvette David, Westland, MI & John Hetu, Roscommon, MI.
Mass of Christian Burial for Rene Hetu will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Father Cromwell Cabrisos will celebrate the mass. Inurnment is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
