IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rebecca
Lyon
October 29, 1949 – October 31, 2023
Rebecca Sue (Becky) Lyon (1949–2023)
Becky Lyon was an amazing mild-mannered woman, who cared for everyone and was always there to lend an ear for whoever needed it. She was always willing to help anyone she could the best she could. Becky Lyon, 74, of Clermont, FL, died in her home surrounded by her sons and their families on October 31, 2023.
She was born in Evergreen Park, IL in 1949 to Albert Curry and Madge Curry (Didisse), who raised Becky to be the wonderful person we all love and know. In 1954, the Curry family relocated from Evergreen Park to Delta, OH where Becky lived out most of her life. Her father was a very active member of the community, opening multiple grocery stores in the area, realtor, and state of Ohio employee. Her mother was a director of the Delta Public Library. Becky was a graduate of Delta High School in 1967, before later pursuing her degree in education at the University of Toledo.
In 1971, Becky was married and 3 year later gave birth to their first son, Steven (Steve) Lyon in November of 1974. 3 years later, in December of 1977 and the start of the 1978 blizzard, she gave birth to their second son, Robert (Rob) Lyon. Becky dedicated many years being a great homemaker, wife, and mother until 1985 when she started working as a Hickory Farms call center representative. Once she graduated from UT, she began substitute teaching in the local school system. After an arduous 8 year pursuit of a full time teaching job in the Delta school system she decided to pursue another avenue. In 1992, she became a Sales Agent for the Ohio Lottery where she dedicated 20 years of her life to driving around northwest Ohio setting up, delivering, and educating her lottery clients of the latest games offered through the lottery. Many, to this day and no surprise, still call her a friend.
Though she loved going shopping with her friends, going to Disney, and going to restaurants. Becky's favorite role was that as a grandparent. She treasured her time with her grandkids and would rarely miss an event while she was in Florida. She loved going to their events whether it was a musical, band event, softball game, and of course bowling tournaments. She was always there supporting and cheering them on.
Becky was an active member of the Hope Church of Delta and continued to attend service virtually after moving to Florida. She also attended the Church at South Lake as she made her transition from Ohio to Florida with her son, Rob and his family.
Everyone who knew Becky, knew how much she loved shopping! She was always looking for a good deal, and looking for gifts for others because she loved to give and make others feel special.
Becky will always be remembered for her genuine kindness and the way that she always made others smile and feel special. We'll always imagine hearing her say "this too shall pass" or "kill them with kindness" one more time. We couldn't have asked for a better mother and grandmother, and will miss Becky every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Becky was preceded in death by her mother and father Madge and Albert Curry, brother David Curry, and is survived by brothers Thomas Curry, James (Peggy) Curry; her two sons, Steve (Megan) Lyon and Rob (Lisa) Lyon; and her 5 grandchildren, Kenny, Rylee, Grant, Sawyer, and Ella.
