Razz Hayward Bowen, 93, of Clermont, FL passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Mike Conley Hospice House. Razz was born on February 8, 1924 in McRae, GA, son of Morris and Eldora (nee Kirkley) Bowen. He moved to Clermont when he was 2 years old and attended Clermont High School, before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an owner of a car dealership before retiring. Razz was a member of the Masonic Lodge F & AM 226, Elk Lodge, American Legion, V.F.W., Eagles and charter member of the Moose Lodge. He was also known as "Mr. Baseball", founding Clermont Little League.
Razz is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Eileen; daughters, Nancy Ingersoll of Clermont, Sarah (Keith) Hogan of Texas, Polly (Mark) Strawbridge of Groveland, FL and Shelly (Bryan) Young of Clermont; siblings, Vivian Doto of Winter Garden, FL, Doris Wisner of Minneola, FL and Rudy Bowen of Clermont; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Libby Jones; son, Craig Bowen; brother, Paul Bowen and grandson, Matthew Ingersol.
A Celebration of Razz's life will be held at Noon Friday, February 24, 2017 at Becker Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11AM until service time on the day of the service. Interment will be private at Oak Hill Cemetery, Clermont.
There will be a reception following the services at the funeral home at the South Lake Moose Lodge, 17335 US Hwy 27, Minneola, FL 34715.
